Lt (jg) Hersch Pahl on one of the F6F-3 aircraft used at Santa Rosa for training purposes during the summer of 1944. The squadron deployed for second tour of combat duty in the November 1944. They were looking forward to flying the new F6F-5 when they went aboard their assigned carrier, USS Hancock (CV-19).
